Project Architect

Carvell Architects is looking for a talented and passionate Project Architect to join our collaborative culture in the Rocky Mountain West. This is a great opportunity for an Architect who wants to grow their career into a leadership position. CCA is an award winning 25 year old Architectural, Urban Design, and Planning firm located in the Golden Triangle Creative Arts District adjacent to the Denver Art Museum. Carvell has developed a nationally recognized expertise in the design of next generation buildings for: Student Life Facilities on college and university campuses, affordable and supportive housing for low income families and homeless individuals, market rate & mixed use housing, and recuperative care/assisted living projects.

Diverse in scale, character and visual expression, Carvell Architects has won many AIA and industry design awards for excellence. Among them, the Broadway/Renaissance Downtown Lofts was recognized as one of 14 projects in North America as a finalist for ULI’s Global Awards for Excellence in 2019. In addition, the Barbara Marshall Residence Hall & Wylie Dining Center located on the downtown campus of the Kansas City Art Institute was recognized by AIA Kansas City with an Honor Award and Project of the Year award for 2020 in the Architecture: Large category.

CCA’s design philosophy emphasizes a clear expression of the client’s program, a micro-master planning analysis of the character of the site, a respect for the subtle qualities of the land, and the need for honoring a sense of place.

Energy efficient practices include optimizing the building’s orientation to control solar loads while maximizing daylighting and natural ventilation. Other sustainable features include high performance building envelopes and the use of indigenous materials.

The Project Architect’s responsibilities will be in all aspects of design and the execution of phased Schematic, DD and CD document packages. You will work closely in a team atmosphere with the firm’s Design Principal and a Senior Project Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS:

– Working toward licensure, license to practice Architecture preferred.
– Strong communication, written, and collaboration skills.
– Exceptional design and graphic presentation skills.
– Strong Revit skills-advancing the SD, DD, and CD documents in compliance with building and zoning codes having jurisdiction.
– Fluent in Blue Beam, the Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch Up, and Rendering Platforms such as
Revit 3D, Rhino, Lumion, 3DS Max, or Enscape Plug Ins.
– Collaborates with and coordinates work of Engineering Consultants to ensure the project deliverables are coordinated, and support the overall design intent.
– Each project maintains an awareness of evolving building technologies including a commitment to excellence in sustainable practices.  LEED AP/ Well Building certification a plus.

Architectural Designer / Intern

QUALIFICATIONS:

– Guided by principles in craft and innovation, the firm seeks a candidate with exceptional concept design abilities. Responsibilities include representation of iterative models, diagrams, Sketch Up and Revit drawings, and renderings.
– The chosen candidate will possess a dedicated enthusiasm for environmental stewardship embracing high performance building envelopes and the use of indigenous materials.
– Technical skills must include proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Sketchup, and 3D Rendering Plug-Ins such as: Rhino, 3DS Max, Lumion, and Enscape.  In addition, the candidate’s knowledge in energy modeling using IES, Energy Plus/or eQuest software is a plus.
– Qualified candidates will enjoy working on next generation buildings for college and university campuses, urban mixed use infill projects including affordable and supportive housing, recuperative care facilities, and workplace environments.
